  1. Hi I used the following hack but when i did it did not change the player from region 2 to multi region but it went to region 1. Can anyone tell me what i can do. Any help will be helpful.
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1)Via the "System" button on your Philips remote, on your recorder (no disk in recorder), change the "Remote control used" from "DVD Recorder" to "DVD Player". Store it. (This is IMPORTANT!)

: 2)On your Philips remote press Play 159
The display on the recorder should now change to eleven dashes.

: 3) Still using your PHILIPS remote, tap in 121 212 005 255 (the last few digits will NOT be visible on screen but they WILL be there). Now press "Play" on your PHILIPS remote.

: 4)Power down your recorder, wait a few seconds and Voila!!. You now have a region-free

I really don't think firmware has anything to do with your problem. If I were you I would try to get it back to it's original region code and leave it there. Philips recorders are TERRIBLE players anyway and in my opinion playing factory pressed DVD's in a Philips Recorder shortens it's life expectancy drastically.
Sorry I couldn't help more....I don't muck with my Philips recorder...I paid too much for it.
