    there are lot of links for firmware-sites. Maybe someone has also original firmware.

    want to change my uj-816 (powerbook) into the faster burning uj-825; but the firmware supplied at the store in UK is not compatible with apple, therfore I need the "original"....

    Tell us, what happened. Interested in any "better"-updates, since bought ND-2500 few months ago, and DL-burner 2510 is claimed to be same unit with new firmware... Not interested in speed, but capacity.

    Apple has used tweaked software (likely not only maker), but especially in laptops it really might be because of power usage and heat issues. Maybe it can be upgraded, but is it really worth it, because of possible reliability issues and (possibly) shortened life span? If you use 180 min for shooting (maybe 1h edited), xx hours for editing and authoring, maybe you should use still 15(?)min extra for burning? Unless it's complete crab, it deserves good and correct record that can be read maybe in the year 2104, or even farther?
