  1. I believe I read that this software package gives you the capability to:
    1) capture to AVI
    2) edit the AVI file
    3) convert from AVI to MPEG1 or MPEG2

Did I also read that there are different programs which will do a better job at generating the MPEG files?

  2. That program sucks DON'T use it.
It is the only program ever to mess up an encode on my computer

  3. Studio does not 'suck' it is a very good editing package for the DC10+ card, I would recommend it for editing but not for creating MPEG's best to use an external encoder for that.

  4. I agree with Zed. I use Pinn Studio 7 and it edits avi files very well. It has awesome transition effects and is quick. It does not however do a good job with converting to Mpeg 1/2. I import the avi to Uleads Video Studio 5 and then burn with Ulead Movie Factory and that does a great job, at least for me and my home videos.

  5. Wel I guess I never thought of ouputing the video to another app of which it is a good editor but it is a bad encoder since I have never lost a single frame in any other app and I encode 43 minute shows but in it I can lose thousands of frames will encoding a 3 minutes clip

  6. The Studio AV version 7 comes with a MJPEG card, that is rated at 640x480 NTSC. Has anybody captured 704x480, 480x480, and 352x480/240 with this card? It also says it's a MJPEG card only (no AVI?). I would like to get some feedback on the video quality of the analog capture card that comes with this package.

  7. OK, since everyone seems to be in agreement that, while the editor is very good, the MPEG generation kinda sux.

Would TMPGEnc be a better product for the MPEG conversion? Does TMPGEnc convert to both MPEG1 and MPEG2?

    Thanks for the info!

  8. Yes, Tmpeg does everyhting from VCD to DVD encoding (both mpeg-1 and mpeg-2).

If you think on DC10+ card, I am capturing at full resolution of 756x576 (PAL) with DC30+ driver under W98SE.
Then I create SVCD and nobody can't see diference to DVD.

    NenoX,

The max I can get is 640x480 (which is what I use)
I use this card all the time. But, lately, I've ben trying out my
other card (ati rage fury), being that it's my new video display
card - it has capture capabilities.
Right now, I am trying to figiure out how to cap with the Fury
at 352x480. The card uses the WDM drivers, and the wrapper
for VFW doesn't really work well - something like 16 colors in
    final play of avi file.

    DC10+
    --------
Anyways, I did manage to cap at 352x480 with this card, but
the video is chopped way too short on pretty much all side, or
    is it both side (Lf/Rt)
So, in short, capping at that res. is useless - not worth it!

Out of curiosity, how is one able to utilitize the drivers for the
DC30 under the DC10 card? And also, where does one get
those DC30 drivers? I'd like to see if it works for me.

Also, one more thing since we are talking about the DC10,
has anybody ben able to figure out how to overcome the
    color problem with this card??????????????????????

I'm experimenting with the Rage Fury at this time so. . .
I'm looking for a way to cap at 352x480 so I don't have to rescale
or is it resize down from say 640x480 to 352x480.

On another note, I see that SciFi is showing "When Worlds Collide"
tonight at 1am. I'm hoping to get all this stuff resolve by then.
    I said I was hopping
