  1. I have a Leadtek TV 2000 XP Deluxe. Capture card. I want to transfer my 2 hour VHS movie to a single 4.7 gb disk. I used software called WINFAST PVR, i connected my vcr and chose the output mode as dvd ntsc mpeg 2 (medium quality) in the settings, so i started capturing from my vcr to hd and i checked after 18 minutes the file was already 800mb big! Now if you do the math it will be quiet obvious that the whole 2 hour vhs wont fit because it will be way over 4.7 gb. How else can i do this, I just want to retain original vhs quality because its already not all good. Then i would still have to make it dvd player compatible by using winavi and that dramatically increases file size. Anyone has any suggestions on how i can fit the whole 2 hour video on a single dvd-r disk.

You can change the settings to lower the bitrate. I use half D1 resolution and about 3000 variable bitrate. This will fit more than 2 hours on a disk.

  3. Is there a custom setting in the Leadtek TV program where you can set the bitrate? I have a Hauppauge WinTV PVR 250 and I set the resolution to 720x480 and bitrate at 4200 to 6200 and I can get 2 hours 15 minutes that way and the quality is pretty good. You can go to the tools section and get a bitrate calculator, that way you can use that to find the correct bitrate to fit your movie to a DVD-R.
