    does anyone know what type of video stabilizer i need to make backup on a panisonic dmr-e80h or do i have to just do trial and error thanks for your time I have read and cant find which one will work

  2. If you are talking about VHS copies, you'll need a "clarifier", enhancer, or a TBC (time base corrector) capable of defeating copy protection. Sima and several other manufacturers make these devices.

    no i want to make backups of dvds sorry i should have put that in here I have a jvc xv-m567 dvd player to play them and the pan dmr e80h to recored thanks I am looking into the go dvd from simma any info on that

  4. Why not just rip and burn backups on your computer? DVDShrink, Nero Express and a DVD writer is all you need. You can buy a quad format DVD burner for $80. That GoDVD thing is like $60, I think.

    my computer is maxed out i need to buy a new one and i dont have the cash right now plus i bought this pani recorder and it is killing me that i cant use it for what i wanted to but the hard drive is great for taping shows off tv

  6. You should check first if Macrovision can be disabled easily on your DVD player, either by a secret factory code or by a firmware mod chip. Even if it can't, you might be able to borrow someone else's DVD player that can, or even just buy one since some of the the el cheapo $30 DVD players can disable Macrovision.

    on the simma site it is only 49 so i will get it there ow can i find out if i can disable mac on my dvd where to look oh and thanks

    Check return policy before you buy sima. I have a couple of older sima units that remove macrovision but do not remove the cgms, which is responsible for the "cannot copy" message. Check out www.facetvideo.com video clarifier, about $99. I've heard that it removes both macrovsion and cgms. Otherwise consider to purchase a true TBC, $200 to $300 and up.

    some one told me the clairifer would not work on the panisoic I was going to get this from the videoguys at http://www.videoguys.com/sima.htm
    but i just e-mailed them and asked about returns thanks for bringing that to my attention cause i didnt even think about it and would have been screwed thanks
