  1. I've been looking very hard for a way to make this type of conversion.

I have found a program called ASFtools that is designed for it, but is NOT compatible with the "Windows Media Encoder 9 beta" (if you download WMPlayer 10 beta, the filter is there). This is the way the video in the ASF file is encoded.

I am playing the file on my hard drive from a multicast channel, using an "NSC" file, another Microsoft invention that works like an ASX file, it's just text pointing to the actual video. This file can be rendered in Graphedit, but replacing the Video Renderer filter with the AVI Mux + File Writer gives a corrupt AVI file.

I've reposted this message a couple times now with no replies... Do you guys need more details or is it just that no one here has any experience with Microsoft's new encoding, WME9? I could probably provide some info on that as well...

Try stoik video convertor. Browse for input file. Ignore the fact that .asf files are not listed like .wmv for instance. Should work.Good luck.
