  1. I currently own the Pioneer A-05 dvd writer & am thinking of getting a standalone dvd recorder that records onto RAM discs.

But I want to be ablt to transfer the contents of that disc to my hdd. Seems my A-o5 wont read them at all.

So what are my options?. I firstly dont want to buy another dvd writer at this time just to read them as it's money wasted as I already have a writer. So is there any normal dvd drives that can simply read RAM discs out there?.

    Hello,
I don't know if there are any that read ram. You do have a couple of options. You could see if any of the ram recorders have a firewire or other digital output (so you could preserve the digital signal). Also, since vhs captures will be analogue you COULD redub it through a capture card.

These are just a coulpe of options. I don't know how valid they are but they might get you thinking along another path.

There certainly are. You just need to get a DVD-ROM drive that will read DVD-RAM.

If you're in the UK (and I guess you are from your previous posts), you can pick one up for under £20. For example, Ebuyer.co.uk are doing an LG GDR8163BB for £16.62 inc vat.

    Supported Media Types: CD-R, CD-RW, DVD-ROM, DVD-R, DVD-RAM, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD+R

  4. Nice one will have a look out for that model. Just dont want to have to get an entire new dvd burner just for reading the RAM discs. That model looks ideal.

My LG DVD-ROM reads RAM. Reason I got it. Nice reader too, maybe better than my Pioneer ROMs.

  6. I have a toshiba 1712. Paid $41 from www.a2zcomp.com about a year ago. A friend bought a Samsung, I think either model 816. They read ram disks. You have to download a panasonic driver though. Between this forum and avsforum.com you can find a link.

  7. Thanks for all that guys, think I'll go for the LG model as that seems to read them right out of the box.
