I have a Yamada standalone DVD Recordable, I find the best quality capture is to plug my video cmara in to it & record the video.
The DVD Player then gives me 2 files.
Video TS
Video RM
which play fine under media player or power DVD. What I want to do is open it in Win Movie Maker & trim & add some captions.
For some reason I can't just copy the .vob file to my hard drive so using DVD Dycrypter I extract the whole DVD to my hard drive, then copy the required vts_01_1.vob file to my hard drive, change the extension from .vob to .mpg & open the file in movie maker, however movie maker just freezes when I try to open the file, & only freezes on this file.
Thinking I need to get it converted to a more regular file I make a DVD out of it using Ulead DVD MovieFactory & then use the mpg file that's left in the converted folder by Ulead. Same problem occurs in Movie Maker with this file but again it willplay fine in anything.
Tried converting it to uncompressed avi in Virtual Dub but the input & output quality is attrocias.
Can anyone offer me any suggestion on how to edit the files from my standalone. Pleeeeeeease.
Running XP, with a XP3200CPU & 1 GIG RAM.
AVIcodec info is:
V Codec name: MPEG 2 (Svcd/DVD)
A.1 Codec name: AC3 DVM (0x80)

Try using Womble MPEG Video Wizard (trialware 30 days unrestricted). It should be able to handle your VOB/MPG files with no problems.

Thanks for suggestion Womble, the output is original to the original, however it's running jerkily every second or so, I'm doing this at best quality template DVD Pal.
I've changed all the settings I can find, any ideas???Steve
