  1. I'm using TMPGEnc to encode an avi XVID to mpeg. But about 30min into the source position the preview screen goes black. And at first I just think that its just the preview thats messed up so I wait the hours and hours that it has left for it to encode. Only to find out that when I open the newly encode mpeg, the screen goes black after 30min. I dunno why. In the original avi file it works just fine. What do I do?!

Open it in VDub and scan it for bad frames.

  3. Possibly try a different encoder to rule out TMPGEnc

To see if it's TMPGEnc's fault or the files fault.

  6. I tried to use virtual dub to save it as an uncompressed avi but it said it was corrupted. So the file is corrupted. Is there anyway to fix it?

Open the file in virtualdub, and under the video menu, select 'scan video stream for errors'.

  8. 161 frames masked (2 frames bad, 159 frames good but undecodable)

So yeah I'm able to view the whole movie just fine, but when I get to a certain part in the movie when its converting to something else, it gives me an error no matter what program I'm using. So is there a way to fix em or somethin.

Give this one a go. Worked for me a few times recovering capture files when my PC crashed.
