what am i doing wrong with virtualdub cant capture hi8

in have followed the doom9 guide for capturing from my pal analogue cam using virtual dub, just when i click on capture video nothing happens then a meesage comes up saying


virtualdub capture error

warning: no frames captured

and then just says try turing off overlay, change to 24 or 16 bit tried it all noting is happening!

Can you tell us how you are capturing Hi8? What capture card, and what settings?

i have an aver media card (dvd ezmaker gold)

i want to transfer from a sony trv 208e hi8 pal



the only sofware that i can successfuly record from my camera is the free software that come free with the media card, virtual dub comes up with loads of error messages and also trying to use ulead video capture 7.0 and that also comes up with a capture error...

what Operating system are you using. Virtualdub has issues with 2000 and XP (there are workarounds).

Also, is it possible something else is hogging the capture card. I once had a problem with an Intervideo product installed, even when it wasn't running?
