  1. Ok, looks like lot's of people have downloads they want to convert to disks.

I have some stuff I want to convert so I can upload it instead.
For one thing my magic DVD still has a ways to go, but getting ready to prime the market with samples. So what is the best quality, smallest size, most easy to use for the average person downloading my files?
Prefferably ready to play so they don't have to figure anything out!

What is free and fairly easy to use to convert my files to that format.
And any guides for doing it, or is it easy to figure out on my own once I get the programs.

Source is captures from either Analog or DV camcorders and of course I can choose how to capture those. Or I can use my DVD files as the source.

I'll be gone latter today and hopefully when I get back later I'll be ready to jump into making my upload files.

You might try using Windows Media Encoder to make your files. It has lots of profiles for internet video.

  3. Ok, but what's the best file types etc..

I want it to be best quality, but easy for the novice newbie to pirate all they want
SO the easier it is to convet to a disk, DVD or VCD ect, and watch on TV at decent quality, the more they will pirate it, and the more advertising I get for the full DVD latter

Actually it's NOT pirating of course since that is what I intend these "episodes" to be used for.

Hollywood may be to stupid to use the internet to sell movies, I'm not!
Being I DO want this blasted all over P2P networks as much as possible smaller file sizes would be nice too.

AVI or WMV are generally regarded as the best quality for the smallest file size. Easy to use/ready to play depends on if the end user has the codec you use.

VirtualDub for AVI. Windows Movie Maker 2 for WMV.

DV type 2 would be the easiest IMO.

MPEG-1/2 is the easiest for the noob to semi-noob. No conversion necessary - just drop it into Nero and job's right. MPEG isn't real good at quality for file size though.

I think there are a multitude of ways to meet any two criteria you have requested, but I do not know of one be all and end all product or format that can do everything you want to do. I think you will have to sacrifice something along the way.
    If in doubt, Google it.

Ya, kinda what I figured, no perfect solution to do everything.

From what I have read so far, I gather that you are producing some DVDs with your own footage and these files you are going to upload will be like trailers or previews for these DVDs?
    If in doubt, Google it.
