OK, name the craziest piece of sushi or sushi dish you think everyone has had?Originally Posted by vitualis
I can just about guarantee I have had some things that only the avid Japanese person may have.
Here's one Yamakaki(sp?) done japanese style. Not even close to being the same american style...
Yamakaki = japanese mountain potato grated (think elmer's glue) with quail egg and maguro. served sometimes with a bowl of steamed rice.
My friend is a sushi chief and a great golfer...Losing to your sushi chief can be very benifical if you know what I mean![]()

Nice. I am actually going to a sushi restaurant tomorrow. It is $20 for ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT sushi. Does this sound like a good deal to you? I won't eat for the whole day and the previous mind you.Originally Posted by stiltman

Most all you can eat places don't offer top of the line stuff or they are very limited in what you can get. I very rarely order off the menu, about the only time I do it's because I want soft shell crab appatiser or hamachi coma (broiled yellow tail tuna jaw). Maybe we should start a sushi threadOriginally Posted by 888888

Although I don't consider it exotic anymore, I went to a sushi restaurant in Kansas City just to be able to say I've had sushi. I was thoroughly unimpressed. It was rather tasteless, and overwhelmed by the taste of ginger. Insanely expensive too. Never again.Originally Posted by stiltman

We got something like a larvae lollipop. it's a tequila flavored lollipop with a tequila worm in the center. I haven't had one, but I'm not a fan of tequila either.Originally Posted by Cholerabob

I think the title of this thread should change from the most exotic food you have ever eaten, to the grossest thing you have ever eaten

When it comes to eating, I don't think I'm as adventurous as some of you guys are - about the most exotic for me, would be a....Slim Jim
You could say I'm not especially planning to be on Survivor any time soon...and though I might be curious as to what dog food might taste like, well I don't really need to know that bad to go as far as to try some :P
I've eaten some vegetarian/vegan stuff and I like common seafood such as crab, lobster, clams, shrimp, sardines, tuna, salmon and various fish.
Nothing really too out there
As they say, the mind is a terrible thing to taste :P -
GuestGuestActually, they were quite good. I first tried them on a trek in the mountains near the Thai-Myramar border. The guides were eating them. They taste just like bacon when fried in a little oil & salt. I then proceded to make an egg & grub sandwich. By far, not the grossest thing I've eaten :POriginally Posted by Craig Tucker
Here is our guide"O" eating one.
