    Hi All,

I have been "capturing" my 20 megatons of VHS tapes as DV using a camcorder with AV->DV conversion built-in. So far, the majority of my caps have been about 2 hours in length. I am using a Canon ZR60 camcorder, Ulead Video Studio 7, and have been capturing my files as Type-2 DV. Up until now, through many captures, things have been great...almost no problems.

Trouble began last night when capturing the entire length of an 8 hour tape. Basically, the video ends up being fine - but the audio cuts out completely after roughly 2 hours or so and does not come back. I've made 2 re-tries, both while watching the capture as it occurs (to make sure audio is playing), and both have yielded the same result. On my last attempt, audio dropped off at approx. 90 minutes, and I know for sure that I've done captures that have lasted longer than that, so I'm a bit baffled here.

Scoured this forum, google, and the newsgroups...all to no avail. Has anyone had any similar experieces with this? Ulead is current, by the way - all updated, patched and snazzy-like and I'm using about the best hardware out there. After 24 wasted hours (plus fiddling time) of trying to get 8 lousy hours of crap on to this system, I've about had it. If anyone could shed some light on this, I'd very much appreciate it.

    Thanks...

    Zeeker

I noticed I audio dropout after overloading my CPU. You can verify if there is anything wrong with the audio file by loading the video into Gold Wave or your favorite audio program.

Hmmm. Unfortunately, out of frustration, I've already nixed the captured file and so I guess I'll have to try again to check out Gold Wave.

On the CPU question, thanks for the thought. But with a camcorder that's doing almost all the work for me, do you really think CPU load would be an issue? I'm also running (2) 2.8 Xeons on this monster over here, and task man tells me I'm not pushing the envelope - so it's all still a mystery.

    Any other ideas?
