I opened Lion King 3 in DVD Shrink.
    The movie itself is 1hr16m
When I selected Full Disc mode it showed the following in Main Movie section - Title 33,34 2hr32min
When I used the slider there was only one copy of the movie.

When I switched to Reauthor it got even stranger.
Under the Main Movie is showed,
    Title33 4076Mb
    Title33(Angle2) 4076Mb
    Title34 4076Mb
    Title34(Angle2) 4076Mb

The movie itself doesn't have a 2nd angle.

I got a compression of 73% in Reauthor mode when I only dragged across all menus and extras but just 1 of the Main Movie entries of the 4 listed.
In Full Disc mode I got a similar compression level so it seems that it's only doing the 1hr16 movie and not the 2hr32 garbage.

Any ideas why it's showing either twice the running time or multiple titles ?

  2. There's logically more than one title even though physically all these titles re-use the same cells on the disc. It's been ages since I ripped Lion King 3 so I can't remember what was the difference among the titles. Probably one is the movie and the rest contain some form of user interaction (games or whatever).

If you want the whole disc, shrink it as such - everything will be preserved. If you want to re-author with DVD Shrink you can't keep the same structure as the original.

I personally couldn't see any difference between the titles.
The Shrink process was fine, I was just very curious as to the reason behind the "multiple" movie listing and in Full Disc mode the movie length time was doubled.
I think the games were actually listed amongst the Extras section.

    Thanks

  4. so far as i know there is two versions of lion king 3 on the dvd.
the difference is only in a couple of scenes. somewhere in the menu you can get to the second one, but it is not easy to find . I will check out what is different and post it here.

There may not be a great deal of difference between them. You can open the IFO file of the main movie with IfoEdit and check which cells are in use by which title. Those that are different, double-click on them and IfoEdit will play them. That should give you a clue.

It's just DVD Shrink's representation. If you do a full disc backup, the structure will remain intact. If you re-author, each title will go in a separate VTS hence it will really take double the space.

There is no Lion King 3. Don't you mean Lion King 1&1/2?

There was Lion King. Lion King 1.5 and Lion King 2

  7. Sure there was, at least over here (in Spain). It's called Lion King 3 - Hakuna Matata. Was released on DVD in March this year. Maybe was called differently in other countries.

I guess you are right, although that seems retarded to name the movie different things in different countries. I apologize. In the US, that movie is called 1and 1/2.

  9. It's quite common. Not sure the exact reason. Marketing I'd imagine - they think it will sell better under a different name in different countries. Some titles down here have absolutely nothing in common with their original version.

For example, Changing Lanes (one movie with Samuel L Jackson and Ben Affleck) was called "Al limite de la verdad" here - which means "at the edge of the truth". Go figure.

  10. I haven't checked out the Lion King disks, but I'm wondering whether your version may have both the fullscreen & widescreen versions on a DVD9? I've come across some disks like that; when run thru DVDShrink both titles show up in the main movie field in Reauthor mode. Two US disks I can think of right-off-hand are The Wedding Singer and (more recent) The Butterfly Effect. Had to preview each title to find the widescreen version (which is what I wanted to backup).

well, i have the 1 and 1/2 one and it has one feature to "find the hidden mickeys" which is a little game where you press enter at certain parts of the movie, but thats all i can think of.

i have the dvd, ill check it out now, see what each is

you will find that it's just the start/end credits in a different language that is probably the cause of this

Lion King 1 Special Edition does this as it has 2 languages (Hebrew/English) and the intro etc is in either Hebrew or English

it's also just a big con saying that it's a Special Edition of the movie seeing as 99% of the movie is referred in 2 PGC's (Titles) containing exactly the same movie. The only difference is that it had one extra cell (a song) and one cell was slightly longer than the normal version with nothing really interesting

Looks like they have done the same here with the languages

Has anyone made any sort of database of DVDs that contain multiple titles under Main Movie heading and the differences between them ?

    Maybe something to look at.

I checked out Star Wars 2 in Shrink and I think it had 5 Main Movie titles.

it's the different languages for the scrolling intro and end credits
