Newegg has a deal for a double layer Ridata DVDR when you purchase a 50 pack of Ridata 8x DVD-Rs for $39.99. They list the price for the Ridata DL disks as $18 per sold seperately. .80 a piece for the 8x disks and then less the $18 free DL piece of media works out to a nice deal. Those red wrapped Ridata disks are alright and should work out fine for you. So for this price, and that free piece of DL media, that is a sweet deal.
It's while supplies last, so I wouldn't hesitate if you like what you see.

I killed the first post I did with this edit.
Is that 50pk you show 8X printable -R? Same price and deal for 50pk 8X -R printables and free 2.4 DL +R disk.
I may have to order that myself, I don't have any printable 8X -Rs, and getting low on 4x ones I do have.
Thanks for the tip, can't beat that. 50 8X printables $39.99, free DL disk, free shipping too! And I love newegg anyway!
Hmm, $80/100 ? 8X? -

No problem, I agree this is definitely a hell of a deal. It's the only deal regarding DL where you can actually make out right now. The Verbatim 10 pack solution kit is $24.99-$29.99 and the other 9 disks in that kit are about a buck a piece bought seperately. That still puts the price of the DL disk at $15 to $20. Even without the DL disk, this is a solid deal. They are 8x disks, and more importantly, the best disk Ritek has to offer right now. So even on the disks alone you aren't getting screwed. The DL disk is really the icing on the cake. It gives people an opportunity to actually test their first DL disk without feeling like they got royally ripped off. I guess we'll start hearing about more people's DL burn results in the upcoming weeks. Thanks for the tip, can't beat that. 50 8X printables $39.99, free DL disk, free shipping too! In comparision, I looked up the 4x printables I been buying at Rima,
$35 a 50pk plus shipping, and those are 4X disks!
$65 a 100pk plus shipping, Still 4X
So yea, what you said, the disks alone at newegg are a heck of a deal,
$39.99 50pk free shipping, and those are 8X too!!
That's an 8X disk at a 4X price!!
Rima does not even have 8X ritek printables listed!
And when you toss in that free DL disk at newegg, it is truely a FREE disk!
90% of my hardware is bought at newegg.com, I geuss with deals like this they will be getting by business for disks too now. -
I have an NEC 2500a with the hacked DL firmware. Will the DL disc work or will it be a coaster?

Could go either way, you won't know until you try it. At least you won't be out any extra money for trying!Originally Posted by madmoose

ohh yeah, I dont have a Disc printer (like the R200) but I was wondering if someone can post a picture comparing the two surfaces of each Ritek 50 pack. Or simply tell me which one is better.
thanx -
madmoose , you are new at this, arent ya. Comparing an inkjet printable disc with a non printable is kinda useless.

Ya, great price on the 8X disks, so the Dl is a free shot! If you coaster it, well at least you have a FREE place to sit your coffeemadmoose wrote:

Well, sort of yes, but sort of no. I hate CDs or DVDs with those nasty looking awfull logo tops plastered on some Name Brand disks. I much preffer a bank top, printable or not. I don't know that I would pay extra for printables just to write on them, but I do like them better than most non-printable disks. I do write on my 4X printable Riteks fairly often, though I print most. Often I write the title in fine print around the edge untill I get around to printing it also. They work well for writing on, and I think I like that plain white matte top better than logos or a plain gloss top like the princo/leda 1x disks I had. I don't have any Non-printable Riteks handy to compare to right now.Comparing an inkjet printable disc with a non printable is kinda useless.
Burn the DL on the Hacked Nec 2500! If it fries you know the hack wasn't too good, and if it works then I will hack mine tooNow shpuld I burn that DL on my 2500 hacked 2510 or my benq800a hacked to 830A

I don't know about other brands of DL burners but my hacked LiteOn SOHW-812S (Hacked to SOHW-832S) can be bookset to DVD-ROM. I verified this using DVDinfo Pro. Also I recommend not using Nero 6 to burn your DL media. I used it and ended up with a coaster. Nero apparently doesn't even out both layers or ignores the encoded layer break and burns from the hub out to the end of the disc then it starts burning the 2nd layer from the outside of the disc back in. This would be OK if the disc was completely used up, but if not will cause playback problems since there would be a section at the beginning of layer 1 where the unrecorded section of layer 2 would overlap. When this disc is put in a stand alone player the player can't read the disc because of the unrecorded part of the disc. This disc refused to be recognized in my Pioneer, Sony, & Apex DVD players. It did work in my portable Go-Video DVD Player, but it took a long time to bring up the menu. I then tried another DL disc that was burned properly using DVD Decryptor. This disc played perfectly in every DVD player I have tested it in so far.

Has anyone tried their new DL media yet, specifically on the hacked nec 2500a? Any success?

I took advantage of this deal, but I have the upgraded 2500a upto the 2510, but the Ritek media isn't supported. I found a new firmware that supports the 2510 Ritek media @ www.herrie.com, but the link is dead. Can anyone help with the windows flasher. I can't wait to burn dl. Thanks in advance.
