  1. I am new both here and to working with DVD's and I need some help from all of the knowledgable people in here. Here is my situation, I have downloaded a couple of movies off of the internet and would like to put them onto DVD. The files that I have downloaded come in a .rar format. Once I extract them using Winrar, if I go to properties they say video clip for format. I understand that I must convert these files before I can burn them. I followed the tutorial for TMPGEnc to convert the file to an MPEG layer 2 file. After following all of the instructions they came out as Movie File (mpeg) but, the files did not have any audio although the video is fine. After doing some searching, I tride to use VirtualDub to extract the audio. When I tried to open these files with VirtualDub I get an error message that says "No video frames found in MPEG file". Can someone explain to me what I need to do now? If I have not explained the situation well enough please feel free to ask me some questions. I really would like to get this figured out so that I can get all of these files onto DVD where I can watch them. Thanks in advance for the help.

Without actually naming the files, what format are they in before processing with TMPGEnc? AVI? MOV?

If you haven't already, try extracting the audio from the original (downloaded) file, then use that wav file as audio and the original video file as video in TMPGEnc.

  3. Try opening the files in goldwave and saving them as .wav.
This plan is so bad, it must be one of ours.

  4. How do I find out what the file actually is? When I right click on it and go to properties, it says video clip.

  5. Okay, I found it, it says Mpeg layer 3 DivX codec. Does that help at all?

The reason Virtualdub showed that error was because you tried to open your MPEG file which has no audio like you said. You should use Virtualdub to open your original video file (the one you downloaded and extracted from the RAR). Then, go to "File" and "File Information." Post the audio information from that screen here so we know what kind of audio you have.
