  1. hi,
not sure how to describe the problem to search the forum - i have a 25 minute mpeg, and VCD burning app reads it as 1 min, as does virtual dub (i can convert it to divx, but the output is 1 min+ file). what to do?

    Hello,
You could try a different vcd burning utility, I think vcd easy is a good one. You could also demultiplex the mpeg an remix it. Use Tmpgenc, {file, mpeg tools, demultiplex). Split the audio and video. Then remix. That might fix it.

  3. different vcd burning util probably won't do it, since the same thing happens in virtualdub. demultiplexing sounds like a possibility, i'll try that. thanks!
btw, good quotes in your signature.

    Hello,
    Good luck with the demultiplexing.

Thanks for the comment on the quotes. The yoda quote is obviously Empire Strikes Back. The technology quote is just a little saying I made up the other day. It seems like the perfect description of this website. We all love digital video. But we hate it when it doesn't do what we tell it!

  5. okay, de-multiplex doesn't work either.
here's what happens: the mpeg file is over 250 MB, and when playing it in windows media player, the duration is listed as 26 minutes. at 1 min. 56 seconds, the image freezes. this is also the length of the file that virtual dub outputs. what to do?

    Hello,
Sorry I'm not sure what else can be done to recover the file. The only other suggestion I can make is to rerip it from the original source (or recapture if analogue). Good luck.
