i have gotten this error message "Playback Prohibitied by Area Limitations" this only happens on my sony and panasonic, the same discs would play on myy apex and klh though.

Rencoding the movie through DVDShrink usuually fixed this problem. except recently i had the Centropy release of Harry Potter 3 and it had the same error message, and after reenciding it thorugh DVDShrink it still doesnt work.

is the error message "PLayback Prohibitied by Area Limitations" an indication of wroing region or PAL?

    thanks for any help

Look on the left "DVD Hacks". See if your DVD players are listed. Many DVD players can be "hacked" to make them region free. Name brands like Sony or Panasonic are less likely to have hacks.
If you still have the disk try ripping with DVD Decrypter to your HD before using DVD Shrink. DVD Decrypter will make it region free.

yeah i thought of that too while i was typing, i found it odd that such a big group would release something not totally universal, also i aquired a different cut of the same movie and only 1.5 gigs, with the same region error.

also does anyone know th esource or method of these 1.5 gig DVD-r movies, usually TS or cam

    thanks

i thought shrink did that too, it just seems not to work all the time.

do i have to change any setting in decrypter, or all the de-regioning. and if all dvd's are ripped by decrypter thank hacking my Sony player will be unessary?

One more question.... (I usually dont have any problems with software)

Is it possible to rip/encode a movie with DVDdecrypter from a VIDEO_TS directory on your hardrive? this is the function of the "open files" button on dvdShrink. Or is it only from a phsical DVD disc?
