  1. Hello!

My Sony VAIO came with a TV Tuner and "Sony MPEG RealTime encoder board" and some programs called "Vaio Life" and "Giga Pocket Personal Video Recorder." Unfortunately the pc didn't come with a manual, so I have no idea how to set it up or even use it.

I've got DirecTV satellite, does anyone know how I'd be able to hook up my computer to the cable and still watch it on my TV? I probably wouldn't be able to change channels with the remote that came with the pc, either.

Well anyways, if anyone has any suggestions for better programs, setup, etc. please let me know. Thanks a lot!

Call Sony and get a manual. Find out what kind of board that is, Sony doesn't make video cards.

I wouldn't count on using the PC remote with DirecTV. The video is output on the back of the satellite receiver. You already have one going off to the TV. There is usually another output you can use for DVD recorders, VCRs, etc. It's either a composite or S-video output and it should be what you need for your video card.

You'll want to use a "line in" or similarly named input on the video card. You won't be using the tuner, and I'm pretty sure that's the only function that allows using the remote.
