Here's what my dilemma was, as posted on 7-12-04:

Well while I was at work last night I remembered I had a small program on my computer called "Peck's Power Join", but I couldn't remember what type of file/s worked with it. I opened it up and noticed immediately that a browse window opened up to locate .avi files. Yes! I loaded the two fairly large DivX files into the program and pressed "Join!". It couldn't have been easier. The files joined together in about 10 seconds and plays perfectly.
"Peck's Power Join" is absolutely brilliant and I highly recommend it.
