    Hello,
I'm not an expert but I believe the "film" is the 24 fps (frames per second) option. As far as I know this is the standard for US NTSC commecial movies (ie Star Wars, Spiderman, etc). Most DVD's (ntsc) are shifted to 29.97fps to work on home players. Hope this answers your question.

  2. So whats the point of making a film with a frame rate incompatible with a DVD player or VCR in the first place?
This plan is so bad, it must be one of ours.

Like I said I'm not an expert. I just know that 24fps is the major frame rate for movies. The dvds are produced in 29.97 fps. If you do home captures the cards will set the dvd mode to 720x480, 48khz, 29.97 fps.

Why they make the differences I don't know. That's the way NTSC TVS (US, CANADA, Japan) operate.
