i new to all this dvd rw stuff. i have a dvd disk that i need to copy. its a non copyrite disk that is about 3gb in total.
i have a pioneer 106 dvdrw and it is taking forever to copy. i only have one dvd drive so i am using nero 6 to copy the dvd to my hd then burn onto blank dvd r.
its taking around 3 hours for the whole process of copying the cd.

my system is a p3 800mhz with 320mb ram. the disks i am using are ritek (purple) grade a's.

anyone know how i can speed it up?

Use dvddecrypter, it should be faster

select mode as ISO-read (this will copy disc to your HD)
the select mode as ISO-write (this will write to your blank disc)

its better than nero and its free.

You might also consider hacked firmware to unlock the rip speed on your 106. Factory lock I believe is 2x. There are versions available that will not only enable you to rip at up to 12x, but will also allow you to burn at 2x on media that only reports 1x, Remember though, some 1x media really IS only reliable at 1x. If you have media that is inconsistent at 2x, just remember to choose 1x speed before burning those discs.

i went home last night and had a look at my dvdrw(pioneer 106). i had been writing disks at MAXIMUM speed. i changed it to write at 4x, i got a message saying that it was only able to write at 1x. it was something to do with data transfer. im sure i have all latest drivers and firmware.
anyone know what i can do to get it writing at 4x?
could it be a new hard drive i need? (currently have 40gb hdd, not sure of speed etc of it)
could it be that the dvdrw is set as a secondary drive and it should be a primary (do know if this is true, anyone know how i would change it over?)

or is it something ive missed?

This may seem like a silly question, but are you using media rated for 4x?
