  1. I was storing my dvd's in albums but lately I'm storing them in 50 or 100 spindles ... same one that come in the DVD's.
Is there any problem to doing this?
    Will the data corrupt?
    Any experience in this?

P.S. I do the same with my cdr's and don't have any problems ... but I wasn't sure with DVD's since 6 times the info ...and maybe the process of burning is different. I don't know... and figured I should ask you guys.

I do this too. Worst thing is scratches. Don't use this method for valuable discs.

Personally I wouldnt ever stack my burned dvd's, exposing the data side to being scratched and damaged is not a good idea, I store mine in dvd cases or at least a cd holder w/ soft backing. Plus why would you want to shuffle through a spindle of 50 trying to find 1 disc???

I am curious about this myself.

As far as why you would want to "shuffle through 50 disks," I am talking about my safe backups (or backups of " backups."

For example, on films,to minimize storage space I use leather booklets that cost $4 and have 20 pages that are the size of a dvdcase front and all storage of 20 disks and 20 folder covers. Each is alphabetized.

for childrens use copies I use actual dvd cases so the kids can see them and thumb through tem easier since they ten to watch tme many times.

But for my safe copies, whether they be the original, or a safe copy I made from blank media, I would like some cheaper method of storage.

Is storage of media on spindles, if you dont expect to hand them hardly at all (just to take out to make a second use copy if the use copy scratches) be safe?

I keep DVD source files, just in case, on data discs, stacked on spindle. I only touch the spindle to add more. I have 2 100-stack.

You must keep a source file copy/original safe for kids movies. I never would have found this site or known what dvdshrink was if it weren't for my kids managing to destroy dvd's, which they still want to watch a 20th time, in very short order.

I don't think it is college kids on p2p who should be the the worry of the MPAA -- it is parents with kids and a burner in their $400 eMachines box.
