insert silence with goldwave

my video seems to have about a half second delay than the sound after converting avi - dvd, im using goldwave to exctract the sound but was wondering if i could possibly use goldwave to add silence at the start - hopefully putting it back into sync, how do i do this? i see the insert silence option but how do i add the silence at the beggining of the sound file?

1. Load the video into Gold Wave. Select Edit=>Marker=>Set.

2. Change the Time Based Position=>Finish value to "0"=>OK.

3. Select Edit=>Insert Silence. Change the Duration of Silence value to ".5" =>OK

4. Save under a new file name.
