So how far did you get?
My favourite is accessing the web while i'm on the street in the car - once i have my carputer installed i'll be able to do remote administration/MP3 upload over the wireless.
Got all the way down (about 50yds). My wireless network is working fine, it's the desktop that doesn't work as it should, the bloody thing requires that I open internet explorer twice before it'll access a page (if I open just one, it just sits there waiting to receive data until I open internet explorer again then it works fine) eDonkey now takes an age to connect but bit torrent seems to be OK and I can't get Direct Connect to work at all.

I've tried and failed to set up a network here - I just cannot get the two PCs to talk to each other at all.

hmm, odd. boot both machines, and check their IP's (double click your network icon, and look in the support tab) they really want to be the same except the digits after the last .

then use ipconfig to ping the other machine, should get a response (depending on your firewall config [and really you want the inbuilt XP firewall off])

Also, do you have and files/folders set to be shared on the network?

Yesterday I got the following results whilst checking the network out.

    Under Machines Near Me -

On the Desktop(server)I could see -
    Server, Printer, Shared Folder.
Laptop, but couldn't access it just got the "\\Group\Laptop. not accessable" message
On the Laptop (laptop) I could see -
Server, but couldn't access it kept getting a "you do not have permission to access this." message.
    Laptop, Lexmark Printer.

I can ping the Desktop from the Laptop, but not vice versa.

I will try and post pics when I get home.
