  1. Hi,

I'm 'trying' to put a few divx movies on a dvd.
I would like to do so with DVD Maestro.
The sound and the video went fine..
I converted it all to m2v video and mp2 audio and that part works perfectly..

Now the subtitles are a whole other story..
The original subtitles are in the srt format.. I converted these to ssa with subrip..
then I loaded them into MaestroSBT to convert them to son files and generate the bitmaps..

    But maestro won't take'm..
Oh sure it imports 'm perfectly.. I had to double the resolution in MaestroSBT to make them end up on the right spot, but eventually after a lot of work they 'look' fine when I doubleclick one of the subs.

Now comes the preview.. I want to see if they sync with the audio..
Well Maestro crashes as soon as a subtitle should normally enter the screen. Some fatal error about the Cinmst32.dll.
I have that dll, and it used to work flawlessly.. But now with the subs it crashes.. I just 'hoped' the subtitles would sync with the audio and just compiled a dvd, but even then the dvd ended up without subtitles...

I don't think it's a problem with maestro but that something went wrong with the subtitles.. but I recreated those a thousant times and I cannot seem to fix the problem..
Could anyone please give me a little tiny hint here of what to do? cause I'm out of ideas......

  2. Hi. First of all you might need a .ssa-script like this to put in your file:
    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    Script Info]
    ;
    ; Script generated by SubCreator
    ;
    Title:
    Original Script:
    Original Translation:
    Original Editing:
    Original Timing:
    Synch Point:
    Script Updated By:
    Update Details:
    ScriptType: V4.00
    Collisions: Normal
    PlayResY: 864
    PlayResX: 0
    PlayDepth: 0
    Timer: 100.0000

    [v4 Styles]
    Format:
    Name,Fontname,Fontsize,PrimaryColour,SecondaryColo ur,TertiaryColour,
    BackColour,Bold,Italic,BorderStyle,Outline,Shadow,
    Alignment,MarginL,MarginR,MarginV,Encoding
    Style: Default,Arial,50,16777215,65535,65280,0,0,0,1,1,0, 2,30,30,55,0
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

And then Check those values in MaestroSBT/Options/Rendering:

"Graphics size" (choose Pal or NTSC)
"Don't clip bitmaps [Needed for Scenarist]"

    And in MaestroSBT/Options/Timing:

"FPS In -Out". (If your original subs were 25 fps then enter the same value in the Outbox.)

And then hit: "MaestroSBT/Options/Edit & Preview". Adjust the colours, height and so on.
    Hope this helps.
By the way, i got problems with no sound on my authored in Maestro -DVD.
    How did you solve that?

Don't clip bitmaps has to be on?
hmmm.. I'll give it a try..
    And in MaestroSBT/Options/Timing:

"FPS In -Out". (If your original subs were 25 fps then enter the same value in the Outbox.)
I did that.. there was nothing wrong with that.

just that clip thingy I can try.... and that script stuff is also worth a shot..
I'll let you know if it works.

Strange.. I don't have that problem..
Are you sure the source stream has audio in it?
when I encode a divx movie with tmpgenc dvd source creator I don't get sound either.. probably some problem with reading the divx sound.
I extract the sound as a wav with virtualdub and re-encode it to mp2 with tmpgenc plus.. that's the only way it worked for me..
I only tryed this on a not-so-good quality divx so I don't know if you'll have lesser quality sound when you do it this way... it was just a stereo stream.. don't know how it'll handle 5.1 dolby or dts streams

  4. Apparently the clipping thing should be on...
at least maestro is not crashing anymore.....
but now another problem occurs... the subs get cut in half..
it does the first half of the sub.. but that's all.. it just looks like its being cut off..
If i move the sub to a more left part of the screen it prints perfectly..
I think there's something wrong with my ripped movie...
I'm gonna re-encode all of them (15 pieces of 20 minuts each.. ouch..)
