This is fair dinkum, one of my mates is Greek, in his forties, and he's a real stereotype. We can't resist extracting the urine.
But joking aside, the Greeks have influenced the accent in Melbourne.

There are almost as many Greeks in Melbourne as in Athens.

There are also plenty of Greeks living in Sydney too.

They are mostly in the inner west of Sydney. I have a friend living at Canterbury having them as neighbors.

Fancy that Athens will host the 2004 Olympic Games next month after the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games.

This is now the Greeks turn after the Aussies.

I hope Athens do it well and hopefully not too hot.

About the Australian English, I believe you have the UK grammar, but the influances (especially from rock music and hollywood movies) are 100% USA, so the mess up must be tuff for you there.

There is only one sort of grammar in English...

Australian kids are screwed up, however, by an education system that for a while didn't believe in teaching formalised grammar.
