Bin it ? (Er... that's trash it to the Americans, nothing to due with BIN's etc).
If you want to put it on a DVD you have to author it, unless your player handles MPEG-2 on a DATA disc, you can't just put it on a disc and play it. This is effectively what your PC's playback software is doing.
Since you don't say otherwise, I will assume you encoded it in the first place and have the necessary codecs on your machine. It might be a matter in TMPGenc of bumping the priorities in the options to make it look at a different import filter (assuming the MPEG-2 isn't a mess).
I think we need more info to help you out here, I for one am not psychic and can't second guess your source.
