  2. Use VCDGear to take it back to an MPEG file, then author using VCDEasy or whatever program you use.

  3. im fairly new to this stuff,i have been using thmpgenc on my avi files to convert them and nero to burn them.i would prefer to use thes programs to do it but i am not sure how with these. i had a look at the programs u recomended but they look kinda complicated.

    If you're happy using TMPGEnc for your AVI's, then you can use it for your dat files too. When you're browsing within TMGEnc to open your dat file you'll need to select "All files[*.*]" in the Files of type selection box to see them.

  5. well what about when you have to choose the template. such as pal,ntsc or ntsc film what do you choose because the dat file opens in gspot but it has n.a for the fps. also i have to extract the audio from the film in virtualdub but when i load it in virtualdub i get a error message.

  6. You don't need to use TMPGEnc - this is for converting files. A re-encode will lose you quality. This is not the correct way to do it.

    Use VCDGear to take it to MPEG and Nero will be able to author the resulting MPEG. It is easy to do - I suggest you try.

  9. Hi, you want an easier way?
    If you have a dat file you can rename it to have mpg extension.
    Open my computer, click on tools - folder options.
    Then choose the file types tab.
    Find your dat and choose advanced at the bottom (win2k, dont know in xp)
    there you choose always show extension.
    Then click ok.
    Find your file *.dat and rename it to *.mpg
    Done.
