Sonic MyDVD 5.2 audio sync problems?

Has anyone ever had audio sync problems with Sonic MyDVD 5.2? I used to use Sonic MyDVD 4.5 and never had a problem. Now, though, I have "occasional" audio sync trouble towards the end of my movies. Does it have something to do with the transcoding to Dolby Digital 2.0?

are you converting divx/xvid? captured material? or does it happen with all video?

To answer your question, Baldrick --

Well, it's a little bit of a convoluted process that I use so here goes...

I actually capture using Roxio Videowave Version 6. I use it because it does a fairly nice job in terms of the editing that I need and I never have a problem capturing (if it ain't broke...). After that, I output the resulting video as an MPEG-2 file at a rate of 10 Mbps so as to minimize loss. It's not DVD-compliant...I used Sonic MyDVD 4.5 in the past to import the file for authoring.

In the past, it's worked pretty well, especially if I used TMPGENC Plus once in awhile just to squeeze a little more video on to a DVD. Sonic won't monkey around with a DVD-compliant video's filesize. Roxio, unfortunately, decides to use its own bitrate no matter what your original file size looks at, so it's pretty useless from an authoring standpoint.

So, that's my overall process. However, I have run into some trouble with the new version 5.2. I haven't had problems before, though when I first bought it...just this particular file!! I've authored 5 DVD's using this new version before without problems...until now.

Here's the troubleshooting I've done to date.

1. Capturing. The capture length was 2 hours. Roxio captures the video flawlessly without loss in audio sync. No problems here. I find no discernible loss in video/audio sync.
2. MPEG-2. Again, no problems here. I checked the entire, edited video and found no audio sync problems.
3. Sonic MyDVD. After importing the file, this is where I see the problem. And it only happens towards the end of the video. I preview it in Sonic and find a sync problem. It's still there when the resulting DVD is burned.

However, I have found a fix, albeit annoying. I extract the audio from the edited video using Roxio. I can then remove the audio from the imported video in Sonic and replace it with the extracted audio track. For some reason, this works. There's absolutely no rhyme or reason to it because IT'S THE EXACT SAME AUDIO FROM THE EXACT SAME FILE.

Well, if anyone else comes across this weird problem, there's a haphazard fix for it.

In the meantime, though, could this be a problem with converting the video and transcoding the audio into AC3 at the same time? Anyone else come across this?
