Seen some pretty sweet stuff...just wondering, do my resources get sucked up if I use something like STARDOCK to change the entire outlook of my desktop, or are there other ways!?

  2. For my work machine, which is pretty rhobust and not taxed heavily, I'll often trade out desktop images, etc. But for home, which is only a P4-2G I tend to have not to have a background what so ever as it tends to use quite a bit of resources.

with only 512M of memory, and a lot of MPEG encoding, I need every drop 'o ram I can afford.

Encoding doesn't use hardly any ram at all. CPU is what you need...

OK, maybe I should have said "and that I run a lot of memory intensive applications"..... oh, btw the multiple apps I normally have running for my encoding needs does chew up a lot of my available memory..... about 80% of it. 8)
