Ok...either I am a complete moron (which is possible) or there is something wrong here! I have downloaded Sizzle (both 0.5 editions) and when I click on the little cd that comes up from the .dmg, the program opens but there is no interface. I got the .dmg straight from the sizzle site...am I doing something wrong?

    Please Advise...

Are you currently, or have you ever used a skin?
If it isn't broken, take it apart and find out why.

It's when you install a program (probably Unsanity's Shapeshifter) which changes the look of your windows, menubar, icons, etc.

PS What version of OS X are you using?

You could try copying the Sizzle app (the CD icon inside the dmg) onto your desktop or application folder. Don't know if this is your problem, but perhaps Sizzle doesn't like being launched from inside a dmg.

thanks, but I already did that...is it possible that for some reason Sizzle is missing its skin?

Ordinarily the answer would be a resounding "no". However you've managed it somehow! I am totally stumped. It may be worth taking yourself to Sizzle's homepage and emailing the author for assistance. He hangs around here too but has been a bit scarce recently.

PS It may be worthwhile doing a 'find file' for "sizzle" and deleting any .plist files you find. Also downloading a new copy if you haven't already tried it. Does 0.1 work?

OK...I think I've exhausted the possibilities...is there another program besides Sizzle that will do the same thing that Sizzle does?

Do you get anything that looks like this when you open sizzle? Does the icon even appear in the dock?

perhaps for some reason your app is open but just not displaying the untitled window, which you would only have to go to FILE and choose NEW

it seems really odd that it wouldnt work.
if you want i can .zip my app and host a dl link for it, for you to try

    Hi Galactica!
Well I thought that that was the issue, but I tied to do the "File New" thing, but...nothing...(Also, i don't get the little question mark icons, just the menu in the white bar at the top with "File, Edit, Font, Window, Help")

I do have a little Sizzle DVD icon in my dock and even more strange is that I can click on Fonts in the Menu at the top and can push "show fonts" and "show colors" and I get the palettes...

It would be great if you could post the zip files as I would love to see if it works, just let me know where and when!

I am trying to finish the tutorials on your website and I have gotten all the way through to the sizzle part, but my Sizzle has fizzled...

    Thanks very much,
    Melanie

UGH! OK, thanks Galactica for the folder, unfortunately, it's still not working which leads me to the conclusion that there is something on my computer that is prohibiting it from operating correctly...I downloaded and unzipped with Safari, IE, and netscape...each time completing trashing all the "sizzle related files, plist, etc." NADDA!

Maybe a final attempt would be if someone could give me a sizzle file, perhaps with just a background image, and then maybe I could try and open it up and see what happens...

I really appreciate all of your efforts!
    Thanks again,
    -Melanie

Have you repaired permissions recently? Might be worth a bash.

Another troubleshooting step would be to create a new user on your Mac and install Sizzle under that new user. If it works then you know it is something screwed with your main user (corrupt prefs somewhere most likely). If it dont work then you know its something wrong with your OS X install (or your Mac ).

i cant believe i didnt thikn of permissions
Definatly do that, and if you have disk warrior or drive 10 or both run them

maybe its time to do a serious defrag, even though OSX does it automatically maybe you have some SEVERE fragmentation

just my thoughts before a reinstall

oh you can make a new user just to test the permissions thing if repair doesnt work. if it also doesnt work under that new user you got probs

  19. That only happened to me when I played around with themes. I'd suggest getting an Aqua restore theme program and applying it.

If you're using Panther, I have one that's fairly comprehensive included with my Pillowtalk-Sky theme.

    Download it here.

Here's a very good one you can use with ThemeChanger:

  20. Hello. This is my first post ever in this Forum so greetings to all of you.
I experience the same issue as Melger.
I really never used any theme so I think that's not the point.
I tought the reason could be I'm running Sizzle on an old 1999 iMac G3, then I found the following topic: https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=200265&highlight=sizzle+window
so tonight at home I'll just try adding Arial Black in /Library/Fonts.
Maybe this can help Melger as well.
    Thanks, good bye.

  21. The fix for this issue is indeed installing the Arial black font as reported in this other thread:
