OK
I want to recompress a video file so that I can play it on my Yamada DVX Player.
The original file is an MKV source that contains RealMedia Video and OGG Vorbis Audio. The file is only 623Mb in size. This will fit on a single CD but for obvious reason will not play on the DVX player.
To recompress this file I am using VirualDub v1.5.10.1 frame served via AVISyth - a technique that works seamlessly.
The original movie states:
Video: RealMedia: 30fps, 2000kb/s max bit rate (I assume its variable)
Audio: OGG Vorbis: 48KHz Sterio
Question:
I am re-encoding to Xvid, 25fps 1500Kb/s with MP3 48KHz 192Kb/s BUT the resulting AVI is 1.6GB in size!!!!!!!!!!!!! And won't fit on a CD - (I have no DVD burner)
Attempting DivX encoding results in similar file sizes (obviously).
Is there something obvious I am missing! I expect the resulting AVI file (bearing in mind that MKV is slight more efficient) to be about 650Mb in size, not 2.5 times bigger than the original!
Cheers,
Andy
P.S.
How can I VBR encode an XviD / DivX / Audio MP3 ??
