Stop a recording can damage the dvd recorder?

Cause if can, i think i've damaged mine... i was recording a dvd-rw, and, i put the wrong one... a single 1x recording speed one, a very old, and it was going to take a long time to record, then, in lass then a minute the recording process started, i've press "cancel" on Nero, to stop the recording, and then, after that, i've pressed eject, but the dvd recorder was not opening, then, i restarted the computer, then, after everything was "normal" again and i could eject the dvd-rw, i've put another dvd-rw(a 4x one), but... it took a LONG time to record, 3 or 4 times the normal i'm used to it, and since then, i've recorded on my 3 other dvd's-rw(a 3 x, a 2x, and the God damn 1x one) seven times, and ALL recordings are tooking TOO long, a very long time to record, way more time than usual. I still not tried recording with dvd's-r since then... so, is there something i can do, or i've damaged for good my dvd recorder?

well what burn speed have you been selecting?

if the drive is still functioning then the only possible thing i could think of is corrupt firmware.

Check to see that DMA is still enabled for the drive. XP may have reset it to PIO mode.

Hi. Well, i always let selected on the maximum speed possible allowed by the media, in this case, it was 1x. Hum, since i'm using Windows XP... to check if the dma is enable or not(or reseted to Pio mode), where can i go...?

Check to see that DMA is still enabled for the drive. XP may have reset it to PIO mode.

I've just checked, and, both my combo and the dvd recorder, are selected, on transfer mode, as "Ultra DMA 2 - Ultra 33"... i have to change that, or it is fine?

U should turn the computer off then on rather than restart.....U can also uninstall your writer in control panel system & restart to redetect it.

But why don't you use just use Restore?

Well you didn't give your computer specs, so I assume its XP & you should be able to find the Restore under SYSTEM TOOLS.
