Since upgrading from Windows 98se to XP, I can no longer burn or copy a cd unless i am burning a VIDEO CD.

I have reinstalled Nero and I keep getting the "AUDIO EXTRACTION NOT SUPPORTED" Error.

I also have windows media player 9.

I have deleted the CDROM.CFG file and i continue to get the error.

    Any help would be appreciated?

    Thanks

  2. First...You never should have upgraded. You should have reformatted and done a clean install of XP.

Next...I'm running XP Pro and have always used Nero 5.5x on this OS with No Problems.

I would try uninstalling Nero and cleaning your registry of all Ahead (Nero) entries and reinstall. If that doesn’t work, blow away your hard drive and do a clean install of XP.

Your not clear on what's up with WMP 9, so I'm not sure what you want.

Wish I had better news for you.

Thanks Guys. When you say clean install ....do you guys mean i should do a clean install of XP or Nero?.

I can burn cd's using XP burning wizard & wmp9 but cannot use Nero apart from making a video CD.

I'd do a clean install of xp... upgrading usually gives bad results and leaves an abundance of crap behind... just backup all your needed files - format your main drive and install XP clean... then install nero and it should be a very easy path from there...
i'd also recommend you to get a newer version of nero - i like to keep myself up to date.
With all due respect... and there is respect...
