  1. I have demuxed an Mpeg1 file so I can change the audio to a different format only once the file is demuxed the audio and video are a different length (ie. 42:47 for the video and 42:44 for the audio). Remuxing the video and audio back to a Mpeg1 file puts the audio and video out of sync at the end of the video. I assume this is because of the difference in lengths of the video and audio.

Is there a way to stretch the audio back to make it the same length as the video to solve my syncing issues. Some of the Mpeg1 files I demux don't have this problem so I assume it isn't the demuxing software.

start with your audio track in a quicktime window.

then open the video in another quicktime window.
    select all, then copy.

go to audio window, select "add scaled" & see if that works.

if not, try adding scaled audio to video window.

  3. Thanks for the quicktime add scaled trick. I first had to convert the mp2 audio file to a wav file first so quicktime would allow me to copy the audio and past it scaled over top of the m1v file.

To convert to a wav file I had to use Mpeg2works. Unfortunately ffmpeg didn't seem to have a mp2 audio to wav converter.
