Is there any difference between the JVC HR-S9911U and the JVC HR-S9911 (no 'U') ? Is there more than one model, or do some sellers just leave off the 'U'? I've done some searching, and some sites include the U and others don't. I actually found one site with a list of VCRs and price ranges, and they had both variations listed, with a slight price difference (bottom price was the same, but top price was higher for the 'U' model). Also, I've seen pictures for both in silver and black.

Does anyone know what, if any, differences there are between the two?

    Thanks,
    Brent

Same features. Just targetted to different zones of the world customized versions. U usually means USA market, correct me if I am wrong.

Would $300 for a tested factory refurb be an adequate price?

I would spend the extra $68 and get a new one. But that's just me.
