Compatability issues

Well out of intrest, are the +r discs any more compatable than the +RW discs?.

It's just that as I'm about to buy my first recoder (still no advice on the model?) I've noticed that most seem to record on +rw discs instead of +r discs. Is there any real reason behind this rather than the ability to re-use the disc?. I'd have thought that write once media would be more compatable with dvd players than re-writable ones. This is something I realised from my Pioneer A05 dvd burner ehere the -rw ones did'nt work to well in my players.

My other concerns is that both my current dvd players are older models & I'm therefor concerned that weather or not I buy +rw or mainly +r discs they may not work as well as the - format, thus the reason why I was originally looking at buying a - format compatable recorder.

I guess\gather some members use the +rw discs to afterwards rip the disc to pc & then re-auther it with a decent menu system to either a dvd-r or dvd+r.

So are there any real compatability issues I really need to think about when deciding on +r or +rw discs or what media I should use?.

I know from my pc burner that any Ritek die -r discs are best so what should I be looking at when buying the + format discs for compatibility?.

That's the only reason I use them....well that and the fact that Philips DVD Recorders are +R machines and that is what I own...

I use BenQ and Philips DVD+RW's for transfering video between the Philips Recorder and my LG4040B burner in my computer....then I normally use Ritek -R's to burn permanently.
