  1. When you burnt the DVD using the PAL template did you also instruct the software to encode the DVD in region 2 as well? If you rejig the mpeg2 data to stretch from NTSC to PAL but still retain the region coding of the original NTSC (region 1) then your DVD player will still treat it as NTSC and thus output it in NTSC format.
I always thought that Region Coding and the format of the video (NTSC/PAL) were seperate and had no bearing on each other. Yet the statement above claims otherwise - is it correct ?

Yes they are separate. Without having any more context to view that post in, it does look to be mistaken. If your DVD player's set region, and that of your DVD don't match then the disk simply won't play at all and you will receive a warning regarding region protection.

  3. The passage quoted above is a reply to this -

Does anyone know how to transfer an MPEG2 file from DVD to VHS? I have tried connecting my DVD and VHS player together, pressing play on the DVD and record on the video, the sound transfers ok, but the video is in black and white, this may because the DVD is burnt in NTSC and not PAL, but I don't seem to be able to get it to burn in PAL even though I have applied tha correct PAL template.

Also, does anyone know where I can get a NTSC to PAL convertor.

PS, this is for holiday pictures that I have transferred to DVD Video.

    Thanks.
