well, yeah, the title says it all about my problem: dull color after i convert avi (divx) to mpeg2 for dvd burning. basically, the colors don't radiate and aren't as vibrant as the avi file. i also notice some blotchiness. for example, i can actually see color divisions; it's like comparing 16-bit color (mpeg2 dvd file) to 32-bit color (avi divx).
incidentally, using tmpgenc plus (rather old, like ver 2.5) and using high-quality settings, such as 2-pass vbr, highest motion precision, etc.
