I have 11 AVI files that are around 300-500 MB each. (Total 3.88 GB)
What is the best possible setting in TMPGEnc to fit all on a DVD to be able to watch on a DVD Player? Or at least 3 avi's on 1 dvd without losing much quality. Is SVCD possible on a DVD-R? The episodes are fansubbed with .srt files... Do I have to use VirtualDub then TMPGEnc as well?

You shouldn't have any problem fitting them all onto a DVD. When you compress to mpg2 for DVD, the resulting files will be somewhat less than the 3.88Gig you now have. I think you could probably use a pretty high bitrate to get the best quality. If you search around here for the Bitrate calculator you can get a better idea of what you can.

I select DVD format in TMPGEnc and browse to the avi file and hit next, estimated file size says 4125.90 MB!
And if I decrease file size % of disk capacity for DVD-R (4.7GB) as lowest as possible, it is 38.11%, which is still 1572.62 MB!
(And that is at 352x480 pixel, video@2000 kbits/sec, audio@1536 kbits/sec)
It can't fit all 11...
