When I capture (raw uncompressed avi or using huffy loslesss) to 640x480 or 768x576 I get like a shadow effect, like repeat frame over the last frame but faded, though I get no such problems with 352x288 res.
Has anybody else had such problems before?

Are you sure you are not talkng about combing artifacts from the interlaced video?
Look at the picture of Riker on this page, and see if that is what you mean..
