With both Nero and Ulead MSP 7, I freeze a few minutes into capturing an .avi from my z70. It's not just the program that freezs - it's my whole comp. , and I need to reboot. I'm working from an almost clean install of winxp. any ideas?

  2. Is your WinTV250 a USB device?
-- If Yes, make sure you have no other USB Devices connected
-- Is it USB V1.1 or V2? (USB V1.1 will more than likely not be able to capture an AVI Stream)

Virus Check, Defrag, Reinstall capture drivers... try capturing with capture program supplied with your WinTV250

It's a pci card - and I'm not using it. I just go from the z70 to my comp. via fire wire...

Problem solved (took me months). Anyway, seems it's a service called v2i protector - part of drive image, I think. As for taking me months to solve - should have looked in the event viewer long ago. Says v2i protector hung. Two questions:

    1. Why can I find no other instance of this on the web? I'd assume there are others out there who capture video and have drive image on their machines.

    2. Why does this only occur with non-windows capturing software? I have no problem capturing with MM2.

  9. Glad you got this resolved... you could see I was replying quite blind since I did not know what you were using for your capture, etc.... try to provide info on the front end.

    Sorry!

Any idea why this service would hinder all capture programs (at least ulead and nero) and not movie maker?
