I have an OGM file with one SRT subtitle stream in it. I used VDubMOD to demux it. And I used the SRT to SSA converter to convert it to SSA:

When I opened the new SSA file in Sub Station Alpha, it said 1 line was not recognized and discared. How do I know if that line that was discarded was important to the show?Is there a log to show which line was discarded?
Edit:
Also, what size subtitles would you recommend so it can be easily viewable on the TV? I'm using the font Arial. Also, I have a 4:3 TV so what left, right, and vertical margins would you recommend?

Nevermind about my initial problem since I found out no lines were removed. I managed to get two sets of styles for my subtitles and it's in an SSA file. It's fine in Vdub. However, is there any way to make both of those styles appear as they are supposed to after authoring to DVD?
I'm trying out my techniques by adding Japanese and English lyrics to a video. I managed to get the Japanese on there and it works fine. However, it must be a separate style than the English. I have configured the Japanese style and the English style to appear at the bottom of the video, centered. It works fine in VDub. Will they work normally if I author to DVD with selectable subtitles? I'm using DVDAuthorGUI to author. -
You cannot select two subtitle streams on a DVD at once. You may have to either encode the file with hard subs (as you have discovered, you can use Virtualdub to make them a part of the picture), or create three subtitle streams; one English, one Japanese and one with both.
That's complicated. I don't know if it can easily be done. In any event, you would have to find some way of rendering bitmaps of the subtitles, then layering them together, perhaps with a batch command in Photoshop.
If you can have English and Japanese in the same text subtitle file, that would be great, but I don't know if it is possible. Also, they would all be one style.
