I agree !! Excellent. I never saw it coming. I enjoy movies where you just don't know until the very end.

Jacobs Ladder and Vanilla Sky were 2 where I thought I had it figured out several times only to find I was wrong!

I was going to mention Jacob's Ladder, and it just slipped my mind.

the thing about that movie is, they rewrote the script 3 or 4 different times, while shooting the picture. each revision nearly totally dispensing with key points or concepts from the previous one.

that's the only movie I can think of where at least two scenes in the trailers were never in the finished film...

I kinda started suspecting the ending, but still gave me chills when it happened

I love spotting bits in trailers not in the final cut. very interesting.

Cold mountain sucked like an AA member locked in a liquor store over a weekend. However, you did get to see Kidman's chest and a**. The whole movie really started to lose stamina once they left the battle scenes. It started out okay.

Hunted was another movie that had real potential, but just kindda lapsed at the end leaving little resolve. I'm hoping they do a second one and have T.L. Jones take out another one of his students, but bring resolve why they are turning away from the government and going into hiding. The answers they give in the movie are crap and still left somewhat open(IMHO).

  8. Don't get to the theaters much with three kids... so I just saw Matrix Revolutions (#3) the other nite. What a shitty ending to what was a very good story.

Ok, two questions... he's in the machine city and tells the 'head programmer' or whatever he was, that he wants peace and all of a sudden the machines attacking the city just stop. BS --- plz help me understand.

Neo gets absorbed and turns into Mr Smith and then 'explodes' as does the other thousand Smiths -- Neo was plugged in... he should have just died right then and there.... Plz help me understand

    What a piss poor ending

We watched Reloaded last night. You can see about where the movie turned from an interesting, logical sequel, to a trippy fantasy. Too bad they ruined it. After the first one I couldn't wait for the sequel. What a disappointment - so many inconsistencies. :P

The multiple Agent Smiths, the blind Neo, the dead Trinity... Other than great names for rock bands, not much of a movie. What the hell was that at the end? What the hell was the oracle talking about? What the hell was the Architect talking about in Reloaded... I thought they were going to twist it like this:

The Matrix is the mother program, but as certain programs were sent for deletion, certain ones stayed and hacked the mother program to create a subroutine (alternate reality) where they used the will of the humans to fight the mother program, thus giving the humans the impression the were "free" and able to fly around in little ships and stuff. This would have easily explained how Neo was able to see without eyes, kill sentinels with his mind, and be in the matrix (at the train station) even though he's not jacked in. This would also help explain why the architect said that Zion had been destroyed and rebuilt 5 times... Anyone understand that one?

I never could get into the philosophy of the series. It sounded like it was written by Bill Gates on crack.

Yep, how did Morpheus have a ship dated 20xx and looked that old, if the humans had all been killed before? Architecht = talking bollocks, everyone = talking bollocks.

If you watch "The Animatrix" (that title annoys me, it should be "The Animatrices") you'll see the machines wanted peace but man would not stop the war. the human submission for peace seemed to appeal to them. i think it was crap, showing man was weaker than machine - perhaps the point of the film, but nonetheless i didn't like it.

Think like a programmer for a second, neo is an executable, and smith is a virus. the virus rewrites some of neos' code (but not all, he's still a "human") but at the same time neo managed to overwrite part of smiths code while being infected. this alteration spread to the other smiths and destroyed them, while Neo was restored from a backup he created somewhere. he did it in the first one when he jumped into simth and killed him, although that was a less complex infection and deletion/corruption.

Good theory.... It's been about 6 months since I saw Reloaded ... but I could have sword they say Smith was 'outside' of the matrix. And in Revolutions the Oracle said Smith was just like Neo. Maybe could have done a better job explaining how Smith was / is destroyed

Matrix 4... Neo's journey home from the machine world blind.

i suppose that depends on your definition of "the Matrix". is it the machine network? if so, Smith is still in the matrix. is it the "directory" containing the humans' perceived reality? then yeah, smith is outside the Matrix, but obviosuly still in the network somewhere, Neo just has to change directory to kick his ass.

I kind of assumed he was dead at the end of Revolutions.

I don't think in the movie it really said anything about him being dead. I think many were left to that assumption as Trinity was impaled. But Neo survived after dying in the Matrix the first time. He also could do things in the matrix others could not do. He's like someone who fits the pogramming "Back Door" profile like a password or key some hackers use or he is the 'Anti-Virus' program in the matrix. At the end of the third movie he really could have just been over exerted and passed out.
