  1. installed intervideo win dvd 6 today. works great, much better than power DVD, but for some reason it messed up my codecs!
ive always used the same codec pack and was able to see all movies
in DivX , Xvid etc. now i can only hear the sound but no video.

Had no choice but to uninstall. now the DivX files work but i have no DVD
    playing sofware!

    1. Why did it happen?
    2. Can I fix it?
    3. If not, can you reccomend another DVD playing software for my DVD-ROM (anything but powerdvd)?

    thanks!

I use Zoom player. Very configurable and will play most anything with the proper codecs installed.

I would stay away from codec packs, if you install codecs you don't need, they can interfere with ones already on your computer. Best advice is to only install the codecs as you need them. A program like AVIcodec will tell which ones are necessary to play a video file.
