  1. Ok first I need to know how do you figure out what the original video bitrate is of my movie? Anyways I just recently changed a PAL movie into and NTSC movie using TMPGEnc, the first half of my PAL movie was 57 minutes long and 673 MB, I wasn't sure what the origional bitrate was of the PAL movie so I set it for fairly low at 1659, after I converted my movie to NTSC my movie was suddenly 923 MB which is way to big to fit on a 700 MB CD-R. Can anyone tell me why this happened?

You've set the bitrate too high, are you using the VCD template?

  3. Iam using SVCD. What is the difference between SVCD and VCD, I thought SVCD just produces a better picture? How do I figure out the bitrate of my PAL movie, my PAL movie is my source Iam converting it from PAL to NTSC.

  5. the filesize will depend on the duration of the programme, and the bitrate used during YOUR encoding (it won't be related to the bitrate of the original.

Use one of the bitrate calculators in the "tools" section to calculate the bitrate based on the duration of the programme and the output format (VCD or SVCD etc).

Standard SVCD will hold around 40 mins. If you need to fit more than that on, suggest you use more disks or a different format (i.e. VCD or xVCD)
