  1. Hi

im new to all this encoding and authoring

ive got a 2h 15m movie that i have encoded and is in 2 halfs.

every time i encode it trying to bring the size of the 2 files below the 4.3 gb mark for dvd author i can never do it.

so what i want to know is what is maximum size my vob files should be.

when dvd shrinking them so that i dont lose any quality from the encoded file ive done.

or should i just use a half D1 resolution 352x576 and encode using max VBR 4000 to get the vobs around 5GB mark then shrink that way.

or could i shrink a file as big as say 6GB-7GB without losing quality or much quality.

    thx

  3. thx for the reply ive figured out how to get a full 2h15min film under the 4.3gb barier.

    im using mainconcept 1.4.

i was using dvd mpeg settings before in mainconcept and thats how it was making large files over 6gb when encoding big files.

all i done was change the mpeg type 2 mpeg2 so i could edit some advanced settings.

and changed the average bitrate to 0 and the minimum bitrate to 0.

i put the maximum bitrate to full then all i done was change the quality control option to 3 rather than 10 and now a 2hour movies is only encoding to around 3.6 gb and i dont really notice any quality loss either,
