According to this article +RW is way ahead of -RW. Looks like a 3 to 1 advantage. Interesting.

Still a few bugs in the system...

What I found interesting was that apparently a majority of manufacturers support the +RW media, according to that article. I've also found that to be the case in Australia.
In all honesty, I think universal recorders are the wave of the future. DVD-R will always have a use. When you can't get a player to play anything else, the fact that DVD-R can be switched to DVD-ROM without bitsetting always comes in handy. I have plenty of friends whose players won't play anything else."It's getting to the point now when I'm with you, I no longer want to have something stuck in my eye..." -
Every time I burn a DVD-R, once the burn is complete, DVDDecrypter reports it as a DVD-ROM. No other format does this. It is, I believe, the reason why DVD-R has such a higher compatibility level.

It only says that because the disc is not writeable anymore.

That article is vague and doesn't say if the sales were media or writers.
"Wu predicted that the format debate will be settled by year's end".
I doubt it.
"Most makers in Taiwan produce recorders that only support the DVD+RW recording format, although some dual models support both DVD plus and DVD minus"
I think he has that backwards,BenQ(Philips/Acer) and NuTech are the only ones that produce DVD+R only drives. -
As I said, the program does this with no other format, regardless of whether it can be written or not.
There really is no need for a format war. It is in the best interests of both consumers and manufacturers to keep at least two varieties alive. It benefits manufacturers because it keeps the people in charge of how the technology is licensed honest, and it benefits consumers for precisely the same reason."It's getting to the point now when I'm with you, I no longer want to have something stuck in my eye..." -
