trouble with vcd on dvd player

i use to be able to play vcd fine on my dvd player but recently the vcd i've tried has not been able to play, it loads and the says pbc off and go back to the menu screen, i got a akai dvd 200bl. never gave me problem s before and what is pbc, thanks

This is from the Glossary on the left:
PBC
Playback control, PBC, is available for Video CD (VCD) 2.0 and Super Video CD (SVCD) 1.0 disc formats. PBC allows control of the playback of play items and the possibility of interaction with the user through the remote control or some other input device available.

you need to read your manual and figure out how to turn on pbc.

There is usually a pbc button on the remote!!
